Utilising tritium, a watch dial will remain luminous without charge for a period that well exceeds other luminous materials. Pure tritium gas is sealed in individual mineral glass tubes. The interior walls are coated with a luminescent material that gives off cold light when activated by the electrons emitted by the tritium.
